Adam and Dr. Drew open the show talking about Drew’s recent unfortunate technical experience. Drew recounts not only what happened, but his surprise and confusion about the reaction from those close to him or in his digital rolodex. They also talk about Adam’s recent realization that he didn’t have his mother’s phone number in his cell phone. Later the guys pivot to the recent tragedy in Brussels and discuss some of the potential implications. Superfan Sidebar >>
I can confirm from personal experience that thyroid disfunction (hypo, hyper, and rapid fluctuations from one to the other) can cause anxiety, heart palpitations, and strange body sensations where it seems like you can feel your pulse and all the blood coursing through your body. These, and many more fun symptoms, all came part and parcel with my Hashimoto’s and thyroid cancer adventure.
Good call on Drew’s part to mention the thyroid as a possible physical culprit. In my case, lab values were within normal range, it was only after a physical exam + ultrasound + biopsy then removal and pathology report that my tumors were found.
Horrible anxiety out of nowhere, heart palpitations, and adrenaline-like shocks when I was trying to sleep were the first symptoms I noticed when my thyroid went haywire.
