#1382 Bureaucracy is the Enemy

February 9, 2021

Adam and Dr. Drew open the show discussing bureaucracy and how it has become the absolute enemy. They then turn to the phones and speak with a tech professional who was on the inside around the time that Parler was taken down and wants to provide some insight. This leads to a larger conversation about politics and Adam shares a clip with Drew from a recent episode of ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’ featuring Van Jones making a surprising accusation regarding the effort to recall Gavin Newsom.

#1262: Fundamental Attribution Error

April 26, 2020

Adam and Dr. Drew open the show discussing the vast difference in chronicles of people’s lives from their parents’ generation to today from pictures and videos being prohibitively costly vs everyone having a professional still & video camera in their pocket. They then discuss some new numbers coming out of USC that suggest that the number of people in Los Angeles & Santa Clara counties that have been infected with Covid-19 are dramatically higher than previously thought and what that might mean in terms of a return to normal. Adam then tells Drew about a conversation he recently had with Megan Daum and the thoughts he came away from that conversation with.

#1260: All Character, All The Time

April 21, 2020

The guys also discuss some tweets that Adam was sent on the recent comments Bill Maher made regarding China and the coronavirus. The guys then dive into a promised clip of ‘Adam Carolla Is Unprepared’ and try to unpack the process behind mining comedy out of an unexpected and depressing topic such as abortion. As the show wraps up the conversation turns to character & a recent conversation Adam had with his father.

#1257: I Only Argue When I’m Right

April 16, 2020

Adam and Dr. Drew continue their conversation from the end of the last show discussing the relationship between people like them and news outlets looking for them to appear. They then turn the conversation back to intent as they explore further the current culture of seeming mind reading as a way to attribute negativity towards people’s actions, something that Drew has especially been dealing with in recent time. They also explore the phenomenon of people who have made mistakes themselves and are happy, possibly even eager, to ignore their own mistakes and pile on others who’ve made mistakes very similar to their own.
